about

LaRo$a’s new album titled “Fre$ha” can rock a party and your perception of life and death at the same time. Driven by 808’s and bass, Fre$ha delivers a contagious vibe. While there is no specific genre that LaRo$a’s music adheres to, Fre$ha has a predominately new wave hip hop sound with tastes of grime, trill. To bring a new caliber of sound quality to the album’s production, LaRo$a chose to work with two audio engineers to mix and master the album, Kelly Cola and Max Dishaw. LaRo$a’s self-engineered vocals are accompanied by beats made by three different producers: Drae Da Skimask, Dallen, and Kid Ocean. The three transition sequences are produced by LaRo$a herself to artistically sequence the progression of the album.
Fre$ha takes the listener through various thoughts, emotions, and scenarios with underlying concepts of renewal through life and death. Many tracks of this album were created for a multidisciplinary live rap-dance production titled “The Rose” by her art collective, Made in Alchemy. “The Rose” deliberately depicts the lifecycle of a rose. Thus the essence of the experience of cyclical life and death is heavily represented in the album. This process occurs on a grand scale throughout ones life and while each moment dies and then becomes afresh in ones everyday life.
LaRo$a gives glimpses of her personal life experience and feeling as well as a poetic take of her views. The dynamic interplay of celebratory sweetness and provoking contemplation allows for satisfying concept development. There is an element of self-discovery as the album progresses, resulting in an awareness of life and death being an all encompassing cycle of learning. Aspects of romantic relationship throughout the album promote the concept that creative connection is a necessary part of the discovery and renewal of self. Humans develop as we learn about one another and what was once old becomes new and what is new is found out to be something eternal.
